We all know social media is an unavoidable part of our lives today. Even if we personally don’t use social media, we know someone who does, in one form or the other. The urge to go to social media platforms every few hours or even every few minutes is something that we have all struggled with at some point.
With the amazing content available on social media, it is not only a source of entertainment, but people use these platforms to keep them updated with the latest happenings, trends and news as well.
The best thing about social media is that it gives voice to everyone. People can openly speak up on social media platforms.
Oh, talking about social media, did you know there is a day dedicated to it?
Yep, you heard us right! The Social Media Day was launched to recognize and celebrate social media’s impact on global communication in 2010 on June 30.
In 2010, Mashable decided it would be wonderful to acknowledge the influence social media has had on our ability to communicate. We can share with friends, meet new people, conduct business, and expand our networks on a global scale, thanks to the numerous social media platforms!
People can document their daily lives on social media, share their opinions, and keep up with the trends.
Many people have risen to fame through social media, as we have already discussed in our blog “Influencers And Bollywood.” Influencers make money by sharing their content on social media. It is absolutely crazy to think about the role social media plays these days.
Even businesses have recognized the value of social media for connecting with customers and selling their products, as well as quickly updating users about problems affecting their service.
“Right now, with social networks and other tools on the Internet, all of these 500 million people have a way to say what they’re thinking and have their voice be heard.” – Mark Zuckerberg, Co-founder and CEO of Meta Platforms.
Many of us use it to stay up to date on our friends’ activities, even if they live on the opposite side of the world. It has also had a significant impact on global events. During the Arab Spring, for instance, Twitter was used to coordinate protests and report on developments. On a more superficial note, as long as your favourite celebs aren’t just using Twitter to Instagram photographs of their lunch, it’s a terrific way to stay up to date with what they’re doing.
Social media is not confined to the realms of posting pictures and videos for just friends and families anymore, and it has now become a full-fledged marketplace with all the brands making good use of the platforms.
As Prince Khanna, Co-Founder and CEO of Eleve Media says –
“Focus on creating Community,
The Market will create itself.”
June 30, 2022, marks the 13th celebration of Social Media Day.
